Former minister Stelian Fuia under criminal investigation

Stelian Fuia, former Minister of Agriculture, is under criminal investigation by DNA (the National Anticorruption Directorate) for abuse of office against public interests, according to a press release issued Wednesday by DNA. Alexandrina and Daniel State, Fuia’s sister and brother-in-law, are also being investigated in the same case.
The former minister is accused of illegally selling state property to his sister by auction during his term as manager of Fundulea Station for Research and Development of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants.
“Although plaintiff Fuia Stelian, as General Manager of SCDPAM Fundulea, was aware a foreclosure procedure had been initiated against the public institution under his leadership, pursuant to a civil case sentence, on assets owned by the institution in its capacity of statutory undertaker, he failed to enter a stay of execution (in accordance with the Civil Procedure Code) and provide evidence that the assets were under state patrimony,” DNA informs. Subsequently, the right to recover the debt was taken over by way of a debt assignment agreement by SC PROCERA AGROCHEMICALS, a company at which State Alexandrina and State Daniel were shareholders.
