Guinness record: Caraiman Cross, highest cross in the world placed on mountain peak

Caraiman Cross, a historical monument erected between 1926 and 1928 and placed on Caraiman Peak, was labeled as the highest cross in the world placed on a mountain peak, according to Guinness World Record website. The cross commemorating the Romanian heroes of the First World War, placed on Caraiman Peak in Bucegi Mountains, is a historic monument with national and universal value, according to the List of Historic Monuments created by the Ministry of Culture. Caraiman Cross is placed at 2,291 m altitude, according to Guinness World Record. The monument is 39.5 meters high and has an 8 meters high cement platform. The monument was built under King Ferdinand and Queen Mary of Romania between 1926 and 1928.
