Romanian filmmakers are preparing new releases for this year, including among others Box (Florin Serban), Crud si gatit (Gabriel Achim), America, venim (Razvan Savescu), 03.Bypass (Nap Toader), Bucuresti NonStop (Dan Chisu), and Lumea e a mea (Nicolae Constantin Tanase). Crud si gatit, a co-production between Romania, France, and Germany, is a story about the last days in the life of Nicolae Ceasescu and an engineer who helps the Ceausescus cross the border. America, venim (America, here we come) is a juicy comedy centered on a theater act from the provinces who goes to New York to perform one of Caragiale’s plays for the Romanian diaspora. Ultimul zburator, inspired by Mircea Eliade’s short story of the same name and directed by Ovidiu Georgescu, is also scheduled to be released in 2014. In Omega Rose (George Dorobantu), a post-apocalyptic film that audiences have been expecting since 2011, the action is set in 2015, after the world has ended in 2012.
