New heads of the CSM discussed with Italian Ambassador

The priorities of the new leadership of the Supreme Council of Magistrates (CSM) and the measures to be taken related to the implementation of the new Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code were the main topics discussed by the new heads of the CSM with the Ambassador of the Italian Republic in Romania, Diego Brasioli, during a visit on Friday, according to a press release of the CSM, quoted by Agerpres. ‘The meeting represented an occasion for the new leadership of the CSM to present its priorities, among which the most important the consolidation of the constitutional role of the CSM as a guarantor of justice independence. Moreover, there were presented the measures taken by the CSM with respect to the implementation of the new Criminal Code and the new Criminal Procedure Code,’ specified the abovementioned source. CSM said that, in the context of the excellent bilateral relations existing in the justice field between Romania and Italy, there were approached topics of common interests, as the fight against corruption and all serious crimes, judicial cooperation, and the professional evaluation of magistrates.
