CVM report to be released tomorrow

Verification Mechanism) report for Romania will be released Wednesday, 22 January, EC spokesman Mark Gray announced yesterday. The report will include an evaluation of the progress made by Romania since the last report, made public on 30 January 2013. The reports are built in a different manner, he explained, since for Bulgaria there is a longer period. In Romania’s case, it is about a year that will be analysed, said Gray quoted by Agerpres. Romania had an additional report in last January, while the last report on Bulgaria was made public in the summer of 2012. PDL leader Vasile Blaga mentioned yesterday that the report will be negative for Romania and will move the country even farther away from Schengen, because of the changes to the Penal Code and of the fact that Premier Victor Ponta did not reprimand the members of PSD Constanta that demanded the dismantling of the DNA. He added that, unfortunately, although Romania meets the technical conditions for the accession to Schengen since 2010, some states will further use the CVM report to block the country’s access to the Schengen space.
