Chairman of PNL Alba County Teodor Atanasiu is no longer under criminal investigation in the file regarding the alleged fraud made at the 2012 referendum. The announcement was issued by vice-chairman of Alba County Council Florin Roman, who received a notification in this respect from the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) of Cluj. According to Roman, other three liberals were also cleared following the prosecutors’ investigations. Senator Teodor Atanasiu said later he expected such a decision because the anti-corruption prosecutors did not have any evidence ever since they started the investigations. “For a year and a half they have operated with the same data they got from the start, that is, no evidence. This is a natural decision, considering the lack of evidence,” said Atanasiu, quoted by Mediafax. Atanasiu said he will talk to his lawyer to decide whether he will sue and demand damages for the decision of the prosecutors to accuse him in that file.
