Festive moment on 155th anniversary of Union of Romanian Principalities, on Patriarchate Hill

A festive moment on the 155th anniversary of the Union of the Romanian Principalities (January 24, 1859) will be held on Friday, on the Patriarchate Hill in Bucharest, informs the press office of the Romanian Patriarchate.
During the Divine Liturgy to be held in the Patriarchal Cathedral they will commemorate Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza, Metropolitan Bishops Nifon of Walachia and Sofronie Miclescu of Moldavia, as well as the other creators of the Union of the Romanian Principalities.
After the Divine Liturgy they will sing a Te Deum as thanks to God for the fulfilment of this great aim in the history of the Romanian people, to whose achievement the Romanian Orthodox Church made its significant contribution.
Later they will lay wreaths at the monument to Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza on the Patriarchate Hill and the Teoctist Patriarhul Aula Magna in the Patriarchate Palace will host the scientific report session titled ‘155th Anniversary of the Union of the Romanian Principalities,’ which is organized in cooperation with the Romanian Academy.
The Romanian Patriarchate recommends the hierarchs and priests of the Romanian Orthodox eparchies in Romania and abroad to hold religious services commemorating all people who contributed to the Union of the Romanian Principalities in 1859 and thanking God for the accomplishment of this Union that was the foundation of the new Romanian modern state: Romania.
