Radu Beligan becomes honorary citizen of Vrancea County

Actor Radu Beligan became honorary citizen of Vrancea County on Friday, according to a draft resolution proposed by chairman of County Council Marian Oprisan and passed in public session by the forum. “Radu Beligan is not only an actor and cultural figure honored both in Romania and abroad, but also a true national institution, as he has done everything he could possibly do for Romania. I would like to thank him and wish him good health,” said Oprisan, quoted by Agerpres. Present at the cultural manifestation in Focsani at the anniversary of 155 since the Union of Romanian Principalities, where he held a speech devoted to the celebrated moment, Radu Beligan thanked for the gratitude shown by Vrancea citizens, promising he will stay healthy and will still work for the National Theatre. Aged 95 years, 75 of which span a theatre career, Radu Beligan entered the Guinness Book being the longest lasting actor playing on the stage.
