Blaga, Tariceanu, Mizil, Duvaz, Fenechiu, and Udrea, among MPs who skipped class in 2013

Deputies Oana Mizil, Bogdan Niculescu Duvaz, Sebastian Ghita (PSD), Relu Fenechiu (PNL), and Elena Udrea (PDL) are at the top of the list of deputies who recorded the lowest attendance rate at the final electronic votes cast in the Chamber of Deputies over the course of 2013, according to an IPP (Public Policies Institute) survey. PSD deputy Gheorghe Netoiu attended the least number of final electronic votes cast between December 2012 and December 2013, namely 1 percent (7 out of 813 votes cast).. In 2013, 50 out of 406 deputies reported below 50 percent attendance to the final electronic vote. Senators Vasile Blaga (PDL), Calin Popescu-Tariceanu (PNL) and Mihai Razvan Ungureanu (FC) top the list of the lowest attendance rates in the Upper Chamber last year.
Also according to the IPP study, nine places in the Legislative, three in the Senate and six in the Chamber of Deputies, were vacated in the first year of the 2012-2016 legislature, the citizens of those constituencies being unrepresented, and the government ignores the obligation to hold elections.
The same document reveals that in 2013, the first year of the present legislature, 52 lawmakers – 36 deputies and 16 senators (accounting for 9 pc of the total number of elects) changed their parliamentary groups at least once since they acceded to the Parliament. According to the source, the most spectacular – also the most predictable – migration in 2013 targeted PPDD, a party that is for the first time in the Parliament, as 50 pc of its MPs (47 members) joined the parliamentary groups of PSD, especially in the Chamber of Deputies.
The study shows that PPDD now risks losing its group in the Senate if only one member will migrate to another party.
In 2013, the PSD group in the Chamber of Deputies was joined by 14 new lawmakers, one of these leaving PDL for UNPR and thus joining PSD. The other 13 new deputies came from PPDD.
