Referendum case: two defendants sentenced to one year and 4 months in prison

The Supreme Court sentenced two of the 75 persons on trial in the ‘Referendum Fraud’ case to one year and four months imprisonment with suspension and ordered the annulment of eight falsified votes off the voters’ list pertaining to the 105 Precinct located in Piatra Olt.
The married couple Marius Marinel and Simona Cristina Predut was tried separately from the other 73 defendants through simplified procedure after they pleaded guilty. They were also granted a probation period of three years and four months.
Deputy Prime Minister Liviu Dragnea is also investigated in this case. His hearing is scheduled February 14.
