President Basescu decorates cultural personalities and veterans

President Traian Basescu signed the decree on the decoration of several personalities of culture and war veterans, reads a release of the Presidential Administration quoted by Agerpres.  Traian Basescu bestowed the Order of ‘Cultural Merit’ in rank of Commander, the B Category – ‘Music’ to University Professor Dr Grigore Constantinescu, the President of the ‘Mihail Jora’ Union of Music Critics, Editors and Broadcasters in Romania, as well as the President of the Romanian Music Forum, and the Order of ‘Cultural Merit’ in rank of Commander, the F Category – ‘Promoting Culture’ to Smaranda Oteanu-Bunea, composer and music critic, founding director of the Comic Opera for Children. There were also bestowed the Order of ‘Cultural Merit’ in rank of Knight, the B Category – ‘Music’ to Associate University Dr Dumitru-Mitica Lupu, composer, the Order of ‘Cultural Merit’ in rank of Knight, the F Category – ‘Promoting Culture’ to University Lecturer Liviu Manolache, actor and director, general director of the ‘Children’s Mamaia’ Festival of Creation and Interpretation and again the Order of ‘Cultural Merit’ in rank of Knight, the F Category – ‘Promoting Culture’ to Gheorghe Ungureanu, the director of the House of Culture of Trade Unions of Constanta (southeastern Romania). According to the Presidency, the decorations were granted ‘in sign of appreciation for their talent and dedication in the service of the Romanian art in the past few decades and especially for promoting a high quality arts education among the younger generations.’ The decoration was made at the proposal of the Union of Music Critics, Editors and Broadcasters in Romania and the Romanian Music Forum.
