American troops from Kyrgyzstan at Kogalniceanu base

The US Army start to transfer their operations this year from the air base Manas in Kyrgyzstan to their base at Mihail Kogalniceanu, announced Major General John O’Connor, commander of 21st Theater Sustainment Command, during an interview for Foreign Policy, quoted by ‘Jurnalul National’ newspaper. Between February and July, when the renting contract of Manas comes to deadline, the US transiting troops are to be carried through Romania. According to Foreign Policy, the new base will be cheaper to operate than Manas, although Mihail Kogalniceanu is three times farther from Kabul than Manas.
