Dulce Pontes concert in Bucharest on February 9

Contemporary queen of fado music, Jose Carreras’ and Andrea Bocelli’ stage partner, will bring the colorful Portuguese beats on Palace Hall stage.

After performing on the greatest stages in the world, dazzling the public at Royal Albert Hall in London, Arena in Verona, Rome’s Auditorium, Mazda Palace in Milan, the Congress Palace in Paris and International Forum Hall in Tokyo, Dulce Pontes returns to Palace Hall in Bucharest on February 9 in a concert which will make hearts throb with the entrancing beats of fado music, reports a press release.
A remarkable name of the contemporary world music stage, Dulce Pontes performed in several prestigious duets. The singer impressed the public performing along Cesaria Evora, Jose Carreras, Caetano Veloso, Marisa Monte, Carlos Nunez, The Chieftains, Kepa Junkera, Eleftheria Arvanitaki, George Dalaras, Andrea Bocelli.
Besides, the song Cancao do Mar can be found in the score of Primal Fear feature movie starring Richard Gere, and a fragment of the same composition appears in the successful series Southland.
The Focus album, which recorded sales worth the gold record in a mere 20 days, came to fruition after the collaboration with legendary Ennio Morricone. About the songs written for Dulce Pontes, Ennio Morricone says they are conceived so as to “observe her vocal range, preserving the features of Portuguese fado. Anyway, her qualities proved during the recordings are chameleonic, consummate and incredibly varied.” The album “Lagrimas,” launched in 1993, remains one of the best selling albums of all times in Portugal.
Special guest during the concert is Marcel Pavel, who is to perform a duet with the artist. Dulce Pontes was born at Montijo in Portugal in 1969, and she has tried a lot of musical styles over time, such as pop, rock, jazz, classical music and folk music. She won the national music festival in Portugal in 1991 and she represented Portugal to the Eurovision during the same year, which represented her career launching pad.
