The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped by 0.2 percentage points in December compared to November, down to 7.1 per cent, but gained 0.4 percentage points compared to Dec. 2012, with the jobless numbering 719,000 people, the National Statistics Institute (INS) reports. The number of the unemployed aged 15-74 years stood at 740,000 people, and at 671,000 in Dec. 2012. “By gender, the unemployment rate for men is 1.3 percentage points higher than the unemployment rate for woman (with the values being 7.7 per cent and 6.4 per cent respectively),” INS informs. As regards the jobless aged 25-74 years, the unemployment rate was estimated at 5.7 per cent in Dec. 2013 (6.2 per cent among men and 5 per cent among women). The number of the unemployed aged 25-74 years accounts for 73.2 per cent of the estimated total number of jobless people in Dec. 2013.
