Arrivals in tourist accommodation units in Romania amounted to 7.9 million in 2013, up 3.5 pc y-o-y, according to National Statistics Institute (INS) data. The arrivals of Romanian tourists represented 78.3 per cent of the total, while foreign tourists’ arrivals were 21.7 per cent, close to the level of 2012. Most of the foreign tourists arriving in tourist accommodation units in Romania were from Europe, INS informs. Last year, the arrivals at hotels represented 74.7 per cent of the total arrivals in tourist accommodation units, up 2.4 per cent compared to 2012. The overnight stays amounted to 19.3 million in 2012, up 1.1 per cent compared to the previous year. The average time of a stay was 2.6 days for Romanian tourists and 2 days for foreigners. According to INS, 38,000 Turks came to Romania last year. Turkish citizens who want to come on holiday in Romania will receive short stay visa within 48 hours, and authorities expect this year to come to city breaks, to fun clubs, skiing and casinos over 50,000 Turkish tourists, 50 per cent more than last year, Mirela Matichescu, National Tourism Authority (ANT) Vice-president said for Mediafax.
