Mugur Isarescu tops public confidence chart followed by PM Ponta

Romania’s public personalities enjoying the highest public confidence rates are Governor of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) Mugur Isarescu, Prime Minister Victor Ponta and Bucharest General Mayor Sorin Oprescu, according to the findings of a recent INSCOP Research poll conducted January 16-21, quoted by Agerpres.
According to the poll released on Wednesday, 44.9 per cent of the respondents say they trust Governor Isarescu much and very much, up from 43 per cent in a November 2013 poll.
Prime Minister Ponta is second, with a 37.4 confidence rate reflecting much and very much trust, up from 38.9 per cent in November 2013. Third is Bucharest General Mayor Sorin Oprescu, who won a 34.6-per cent confidence rate, compared with 34.3 per cent in November 2013, followed closely by Sibiu City Mayor Klaus Iohannis, who garnered 33.9 per cent of much and very much public trust voiced by the respondents, compared with 33.8 per cent in November 2013.
National leader of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Crin Antonescu is fifth most trusted again, with a 29.7-per cent much and very much trust, compared with 30 per cent in November 2013. Following closely behind is former PNL national leader Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, who commends the trust of 27.9 per cent of the respondents, down from 28.1 per cent in November 2013. Seventh in the poll is former national leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), major at rule, Mircea Geoana, with 24.1 per cent of the choices, slightly down from 24.8 per cent in November 2013.
The most trusted Opposition personality according to the same poll is national leader of the Civic Force Mihai Razvan-Ungureanu, with 23.7 per cent, compared with 24.2 per cent in November 2013. He is followed by President Traian Basescu, with 22.1 per cent of the choices, compared with 23.3 per cent in November 2013. The INSCOP Research poll was commissioned by daily Adevarul and conducted January 16-21. The multistage probabilistic sample comprised 1,054 persons that are representative of Romania’s population aged 18 years and above. It carries a plus/minus 3-per-cent error margin for an accuracy rate of 95 per cent.
