Over 1.2 million phone numbers ported in 2008

Over 1.2 million telephone numbers, most of which – 824,153 – mobile phone numbers, have been ported between October 2008 and late 2013, according to data provided by the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM). “1,207,425 numbers were ported in Romania before the end of 2013, 824,153 of which mobile phone numbers and 383,272 landline phone numbers. 2013 was the year with the most intense phone porting activity as 243,137 numbers were ported, meaning 22,844 numbers per month changed networks on average, but not providers. In December 2013, 35,532 portings were recorded, the largest number since the service was launched,” an ANCOM press release shows. Vodafone received the most mobile phone numbers through porting – 288,424, followed by Orange with 270,656, Cosmote with 254,646, RCS & RDS with 8,299 numbers, and Romtelecom with 1,400 mobile phone numbers. Where landline phone operators are concerned, 35 providers received the 383,272 numbers ported so far, most of which were ported to RCS & RDS (106,552), UPC Romania (94,541), Orange (75,163), Vodafone (71,116), and Romtelecom (15,666). Most porting requests for fixed lines were reported in Bucharest, Cluj, and Timis.
