Duster, Logan and Sandero models were among the best selling cars in Russia in January, according to data released yesterday by the Association of European Businesses (AEB). Last month, the best selling car was the model Lada Granta (8,255 units) created by AvtoVAZ. Third came Duster model with 5,590 units, Logan came ninth with 3,004 units and the eleventh place was held by Sandero with 2,795 units. Duster, Logan and Sandero are created by Renault. The sales of personal cars and light vehicles dropped 6 per cent on the Russian market in January down to 152,662 units, announced the Association of European Businesses which estimates a 2 per cent decrease in car registrations this year. “The January sales were lower than we hoped. Due to the low sales this month, this does not represent a major indicative of this year’s trend,” said AEB president Joerg Schreiber. In 2013, the sales of personal cars and light vehicles on the Russian market reported a 5.5 per cent decline down to 2.78 million units, according to AEB data. “I would not call 2013 a bad year, but the prospects for 2014 are worse. We expect a more stable market, and there might be an increase on certain segments,” said Schreiber recently. According to an agreement signed last year, the Renault-Nissan alliance will take over the Russian carmaker AvtoVAZ in 2014.
