President of Prahova County Council Mircea Cosma is under criminal investigation for influence peddling, without being detained. The rule was issued by the Supreme Court on Wednesday. The legal control is a preventive measure included in the new penal procedure code, necessary for making sure the culprit does not avoid investigation. As long as he is under legal control, Cosma must come to the National Anti-corruption Directorate or to the supervisory body, every time he is summoned, to provide information regarding possible changes of address, to be present at the supervisory body in accordance with the schedule set by the police and not to leave Romania without the previous approval from the prosecutor, along with the interdiction to have firearms. Medical sources quoted by Mediafax claim that Mircea Cosma was carried from Bucharest after the sentence directly to the Emergency Hospital in Ploiesti and was admitted in the cardiology section as his blood pressure is high. Those who reported against him in the corruption file of Prahova County Council president are three businessmen whose companies are under criminal investigation in the tax evasion and money laundering files with damages of EUR 35 million, one of them being under preventive arrest in this case.
