Minister of Agriculture Daniel Constantin on Friday announced that the first European funds from the 2014-2020 programming period, allotted to projects of investment in farms, worth EUR 150 M, would be accessed this May, according to Mediafax. The official told a press conference delivered in the Mociu commune, the county of Cluj, that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) targets the reproduction farms, the breeding farms and family farms as regards the allocation of these funds. Constantin also said that the small farmers owning 1-5 hectares, but making associations and owning farms in association bigger than 5 hectares, will be granted an aid higher per area from the EU funds for 2014-2020. “As for truck gardening, we shall focus on collection centers. We shall try to provide those in association with funds for setting up collection warehouses, where the products are sorted, packed and labeled, exactly what is being requested by the supermarkets,” Constantin said. Daniel Constantin attended the opening of the Local Center of the Agriculture Payments and Intervention Agency (APIA) in Mociu, the Cluj County, with over 4,500 farmers from various communes being assigned to this center.
