A medical team from the Emergency Hospital ‘Prof. Dr. Nicolae Oblu’ Iasi used in premiere for Romania and innovative method of removing an extremely aggressive form of brain cancer, ‘Adevarul’ reports. The operation conducted at the Emergency Hospital ‘Prof. Dr. Nicolae Oblu’ Iasi aimed at extirpating an extremely aggressive form of brain cancer known as ‘glioblastom,’ which appeared on the brain of a 28 year old patient from Bacau. Usually, surgeons have problems in precisely locating this type of tumour, so it is impossible to totally remove it. The medical team in Iasi used, for the first time in Romania, a contrast substance name ‘acid 5 aminolevulinic’ or ‘gliolan.’ The liquid was ingested by the patient few hours before the operation planned for Monday, February 24, and it directly “targeted” the cancer cells.
