Sara Takanashi won the first ski jumping World Cup competition in Romania (in Rasnov, Brasov) and with that also the overall World Cup title, fis-ski.com reports. On Saturday the 17-year-old took a clear win in Rasnov ahead of Maren Lundby and her teammate Yuki Ito. “This is my first time ever in Romania. I was impressed with the good condition of the jumping hill, considering the warm weather, which I was a bit nervous about at first. I am very happy with the result I managed to obtain today”, said Takanashi. Unfortunately Olympic Champion Carina Vogt, second in the overall World Cup, did not take part in this competition due to knee problems. Daniela Iraschko-Stolz and Lindsey Van ended the season early due to knee injuries. With jumps on 100.5 m and 99 m and a total of 252.0 points Takanashi came in 25.6 points ahead of Lundby, who jumped on 96 m and 89 m. Romanian Daniela Haralambie failed to qualify for the final in her home event in 31st. Takanashi also won the second round of the competition on Sunday, when Jesica Jerome (USA) came second, with Italian Evelyn Insam in third.
