1.8 pc increase in Orange Romania’s 2013 revenues

Orange Romania reported revenues of EUR 244 million in the last quarter of 2013 and EUR 934 million overall in 2013, up by 1.8 percent compared to 2012, according to a report made public by the French company and cited in a press release.

Having 10,436,000 clients on December 31, 2013, Orange has secured its position as leader on the Romanian telecommunications market. “In 2013, Orange made the largest investments since the outbreak of the economic crisis. In 2013, our investments in Romania went up by over 30 percent compared to 2009. In the future, we expect 2014 to be yet another dynamic year and we are confident that our strategy, based on providing clients with a positive experience and developing our 4G and TV services, will be successful and ensure our status as Romanians’ first choice,” Jean-François Fallacher, CEO Orange Romania, stated.

The use of mobile phone internet continued to grow in 2013, reporting a significant increase from one quarter to the next. Therefore, mobile internet traffic went up by 47 percent in the last quarter of 2013 compared to the same period last year, and by 51 percent compared to 2012. The company is also ready to expand the 4G network as of April 6, 2014, when the new frequencies purchased in 2012 will be made available.

Smartphone sales doubled in 2013 compared to 2012 and more than half of all the mobile phones sold in December 2013 were smartphones.
