Minguet Quartett performs in Bucharest this Saturday

The Minguet Quartett, hailing from Cologne, Germany and one of the best known string quartets of the young generation, will perform Saturday, 7.00 p.m. in the George Enescu Hall of the National University of Music Bucharest, as part of a program entitled ‘Saturday of Sounds,’ a press release cited by Mediafax informs. Inspired by Pablo Minguet, an 18th century Spanish philosopher, engraver, and editor whose tenet was to popularize culture, the Minguet Quartett’s refined classical and Romantic music is a tribute to 21st century composers. In celebration of five years since ‘Saturday of Sounds’ was first held, the German Quintett will play representative pieces of High Modernism, composed by György Ligeti and Glenn Gould, in addition to a more recent work by the prominent German composer Wolfgang Rihm, who has written remarkable works for them over the years. ‘Saturday of Sounds’ has included collaborations with musicians and artists from Germany, France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Great Britain, the United States, Israel, and Romania.
