FM Titus Corlatean pays official visit to Madrid

Minister for Foreign Affairs Titus Corlatean on Tuesday an three-days official visit to Madrid during which he will hold talks with the Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo and will meet with the chairman of the Senate of Spain, Pio Garcia-Escudero Marquez.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), the visit is part of efforts to intensify the bilateral dialogue, based upon the positive outcomes of recent years that permitted advancement of the strategic relation.
The agenda of discussions will include subjects of common interest in the bilateral relations and European and international affairs domains.
Amongst the themes approached will be: intensifying the bilateral political dialogue and economic and commercial relations, the situation of the Romanian community in Spain, European Union current affairs such as the Euro parliamentary elections in May 2014, the financial and economical situation, the European path of the Republic of Moldova, the developments in Ukraine and international subjects of interest such as the NATO Summit in September 2014 and the situation in the Middle East, particularly Syria.
The visit will also include the participation of the Romanian Minister for Foreign Affairs in the inauguration of the new headquarters of the Consular Department of the Romanian Embassy in Madrid, as well as the new headquarters of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Madrid.
Corlatean will also meet the Romanian-language media reporters based in Spain.
