Romania will host between March 18-29 this year the European Snooker Team Championship and the Under-21 Championship in Caro Hotel (Bucharest), Romanian Snooker Federation and the European Billiards and Snooker Association announced. Francisc Toba, the chairman of the Romanian Snooker Federation stated on Tuesday in a press conference that this edition will host around 250 participants of 30 countries. Currently there are 319 sportsmen registered in Romania of which 150 are active in 16 clubs. At the European Snooker Team and Under-21 Championships, tournament dedicated to amateur players, public access is free of charge. As the organizers specified, Romania’s goal is to obtain the first medal which would ease the way to competitions reserved for professional players. Romania has hosted two more European Snooker Championships in 2006, in Constanta (south-east of Romania) as well as in 2010 in Bucharest.
