JTI certified Top Employers in Romania and Europe

JTI has achieved the Top Employers Romania and Europe 2014 certification from the Top Employers Institute. This important award highlights JTI’s dedication to developing its people and having excellent employment conditions.
The Top Employers Institute assessed JTI Romania’s employment standards and areas such as training, career development and culture management, which were awarded high scores: 91.7%, 81.1%, respectively 79.5%.
The research reveals that JTI Romania nurtures and develops talents at all levels of the organisation, always striving to optimise its employment practices and to develop its employees. JTI Romania’s reputation and its responsibility towards the local community and society are vital elements in creating, for the employees, a sense of belonging.
Monica Vijeu, Human Resources Director JTI Romania, Moldova & Bulgaria, stated: “Ever since we established our business in Romania, we have been working on building a powerful organizational culture based on our core values. Our main growth engine has always been our people. With their dedication and engagement, the company achieved the business objectives by being responsible towards all our stakeholders: consumers, employees, shareholders and wider society. All of these have contributed to being awarded by Top Employers.”
Charlie Cunningham-Reid, General Manager JTI Romania, Moldova & Bulgaria adds: “JTI Romania is delighted to be part of the exclusive and internationally renowned community of Top Employers in Europe. This certification enables us to continue to build JTI as one of the most inspiring and rewarding places to work, and to carry on developing our people. As long as the business environment is continuously changing, our employees must grow accordingly.”
Last year JTI celebrated 20 years in the local market, being one of the first multinational companies established in Romania.
Twenty-five JTI offices across Europe and beyond, incl. Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland or United Kingdom, were recognized by the Top Employers Institute for their excellence in people management. On March 11th, JTI was awarded with Top 3 Employer in Europe. The
survey results were confirmed by an independent audit conducted by Grant Thornton.
“The number of JTI offices certified as Top Employers has more than doubled since last year”, says Jörg Schappei, Human Resources Senior Vice President at JTI. Mr. Schappei explains how the harmonization of processes and tools has played an important role in supporting JTI’s HR Policy: “Talent management – ensuring we have the right people in the right functions – is fundamental to our strategy. We set the highest standards for the company in terms of recruitment, training and development, and succession planning. In recent years, we have invested a significant amount of resources to ensure consistency and transparency in our HR practices. Our employees are at the core of this approach, which is supported by a dedicated, personalized online platform that serves as an efficient career and team management tool”.
JTI’s newly appointed President and CEO, Thomas A. McCoy, says that HR strategies significantly affect how people in an organization feel, what they do and how they do it. It has an impact on their level of commitment and enthusiasm to achieve the company’s mission and goals. “Our employees are our ambassadors. They build JTI’s reputation as an employer of choice. The Top Employers certification is a tribute to their dedication and hard work”, he concludes.
