Tango steps and alternative rock on Wednesday at National Opera in Bucharest

The contemporary dance show “Tango. Romeo and Juliet” on the music of such composers such as Astor Piazzolla, Goran Bregovic but also on the music of the British alternative rock band Radiohead will come on Wednesday at 7 pm on the stage of the National Opera of Bucharest, reports the institution. The direction and screenwriting of the show belong to Edward Clug, Romanian-born artist, artistic director of the Ballet Company of the National Theatre in Maribor (Slovenia).
The main role Juliet presented during the second part of the show will be played by prima-ballerina Bianca Fota and Ovidiu Matei Iancu, recently returned from the Ballet Company in Tulsa, US, and Marina Minoiu, finalist of one of the major competition in the world, Youth American Grand Prix, will start in the “Tango Blind” and “Tango Fatal” shows.
The solo passage “Tango Blind” was presented at the 18th of the International Ballet Contest in Varna (Bulgaria, 1998), where it won the prize for the best choreographic creation of the past five years. It also received the special prize for the best choreography at the International Dance Contest in Nagoya (Japan, 1999), the prize for the best show of the Dance Artists’ Union in Slovenia (1999) and the Golden Lion Award at the Chamber Theatre Festival in Umag (Croatia, 2006).
Finalist at Youth American Grand Prix in 2007, ballet dancer Marina Minoiu took performance classes at the summer school of the Royal Ballet Covent Garden, at the American Ballet Theater (US) and the International Ballet Summer Workshop Hagen (Germany).
Ballet dancer Ovidiu Matei Iancu graduated from “Floria Capsali” high-school in Bucharest and he got a scholarship at the English National Ballet School in London between 2001 and 2002. For a year and a half, from 2012 to late 2013, Ovidiu Matei Iancu was prime soloist of the Tulsa Ballet (Oklahoma, US). During his career, he has been invited to prestigious galas such as Les Etoiles du XXI-Siecle at the Theatre Champs Elysees in Paris, and also in Venice, Bergamo, and then with the Orlando Ballet and Norman Ballet in the US and in Dubai, at Madinat Theater.
