Hunedoara Energy Complex takes over debts incurred by Coal Company

The Chamber of Deputies adopted ordinance 104/2013 on Tuesday ruling the takeover by Hunedoara Energy Complex (EC) of the RON 70 million debts incurred by the Black Coal National Company (CNH) under administration by the National Agency of Fiscal Administration, owed and still to be paid, reports Mediafax. The ordinance adopted with 272 votes in favour, 3 against and 55 abstentions, flared tempers between PSD and PDL deputies, as they blamed each other for the mining plight. Also, the simple motion entitled ‘The Energy Sector Ruined by the Mafia of the Social Democratic Party,’ initiated by 51 non-affiliated deputies and of the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL), was rejected by the Deputies’ Chamber in a plenary session, with 185 votes against, 48 in favour and 76 abstentions. The signatories of the motion requested Economy Minister Constantin Nita to cancel the timeframe for the deregulation of natural gas tariffs and urgently draw up the national energy strategy, engaging in dialogue with all the actors involved and in consultation with the Romanian experts. The PDL and non-affiliated deputies also called on the minister to remove the tax on special constructions and stop imposing new fees that would scare the foreign investors and destabilize the competitiveness of the national energy system.
