Almost 4,000 patrimony books could not be found at the Pedagogical Library, 189 of which dated back from 1642-1850, said Minister of Education Remus Pricopie yesterday. The minister said he asked the support of the PM’s control body, and once the results are presented, “the prosecutor’s office will be notified, obviously.” “… We sent the control body there and we found out that there are patrimony books at the Pedagogical Library, 3,989 books could not be found, 189 of which were published between 1642 and 1850,” said Pricopie. The Minister of Education said that no catalogue has been “properly” made since 1984. “We do not want to accuse anyone, we will check whether the 3,989 patrimony books are stored somewhere. No employee could say by now whether they are here. Under these circumstances, I will ask a catalogue to be made of all patrimony items in the network of the Ministry of Education and I don’t mean only books, but also paintings, letters,” said Pricopie. Prime Minister Ponta confirmed that he will request the Government control body to run a quick investigation at the Pedagogical Library.
