Berlin officials on visit to Romania

A delegation chaired by Berlin Senator for Home Affairs Frank Henkel and by Berlin Police Chairman Klaus Kandt is paying a visit to Romania until March 27, their meetings taking place in Bucharest and Constanta. The German delegation will meet Minister of the Interior Gabriel Oprea and Secretaries of State Bogdan Tohaneanu, Raed Arafat and Ilie Botos, with their discussions focusing on the bilateral cooperation aimed at fighting criminality, as well as corruption and illegal immigration in the context of Romania’s accession to Schengen. At the end of the visit, the delegation will also meet with the leadership of the Romanian police and representatives of the Romanian firemen and Coast Guard. “The objective is to further develop the exchange of experience between police officers as agreed last year, considering the conclusions and positive experiences that have resulted so far,” said the German senator, according to a release of Germany’s Embassy in Bucharest.
