Over 170 Romanians were millionaires in USD in 2013

A number of 172 people in Romania had last year net assets of minimum USD 30 million, four people more than in 2012, and another 108 will join them until 2020, according to a survey on global private wealth created by Knight Frank. In Romania, 47 people were found with a wealth higher than USD 100 million, two times more than the previous year, along with three billionaires. For the next ten years, the authors of the study estimate that the number of those having wealth higher than USD 100 million will be higher by 28 and there will be two more billionaires.
In Europe, the number of people with assets higher than USD 30 million went up by 1,955 over the past year (from 58,549 to 60,504) and a 21 per cent increase was estimated over the upcoming decade. Most rich people in Europe are in Germany (11,392), the UK (10,149) and Switzerland (4,137). Romania, Estonia and Bulgaria have the fewest rich people out of the 23 analyzed European states. As a comparison, Poland has 487 people with wealth in excess of USD 30 million, 71 have a wealth exceeding USD 100 million and there are four billionaires, whereas in the Czech Republic there are 391 people with a wealth exceeding USD 30 million, 79 over USD 100 million and four billionaires. The number of people with a wealth of at least USD 30 million in Romania went up by 192 per cent (113 people) over the past decade, the number of those with more than USD 100 million went up by 194 per cent (31 people). Globally, the number of very rich people in the world went up by roughly 6,000 people in 2013.
