Dragnea views meeting with ANI over mayors’ incompatibilities

In the Social-Democratic Party (PSD), major at rule, there is no attitude of scared people, but there is a concern with the situation generated by illustrious members of the party getting in the crosshairs of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) and by many mayors having been declared incompatible with their offices, PSD Executive Chairman Liviu Dragnea said Saturday in Brasov, where he met the chairs of the PSD county organisations. He said the party’s meeting at Poiana Brasov discussed events, not particular issues of the party members, because court files cannot be commented on.
Asked by journalists if countering actions were discussed, Dragnea answered in the negative, saying that there is no such thing.
He added that clarifying the office incompatibilities of the locally elected mayors is necessary and to this end he will meet officials of the National Integrity Agency next week to discuss the issue. ‘As regards the discussions in the public space generated by mayors’ incompatibilities, and here we are no talking only about PSD mayors. (…) We will have a discussion with ANI, because we have to clarify the regime of incompatibilities. It has nothing to do with the elections. Things must be clarified because we are talking about a phenomenon,’ said Dragnea. He pointed out that neither he nor Prime Minister Victor Ponta encourages or promotes discussing actual cases involving people under criminal files.
