Former Hidroelectrica and Portile de Fier I directors, accused of EUR 185 M damages

Former directors of Hidroelectrica and Portile de Fier I power companies were accused in a DIICOT file aiming the activity of the two companies since 2000, as the damages amount to EUR 185 million, according to legal sources quoted by Mediafax. The sources say that 20 people are under accusation in this file. Some suspects came to DIICOT headquarters yesterday to be presented with the accusations, such as former directors of Hidroelectrica Eugen Pena and Oprea Traian, who were charged. “It is about Portile de Fier I company technological upgrade and about a malfeasance of office performed by all the directors and personnel. The investigation covers the period since 2000 and targets the entire management of Portile de Fier and Hidroelectrica, and we will see whether the investigation goes further to ministerial level,” said the quoted sources.
