Iosif Secasan (PNL) resigns from Senate, while under DNA criminal investigation

PNL Senator Iosif Secasan resigned yesterday from the Senate because he is part of an on-going criminal investigation, stating he does not wish to prejudice the Romanian Senate or PNL’s image. Secasan mentioned his gesture is intended to facilitate the act of justice. “I ask my voters for forgiveness for my decision,” Secasan said before the MPs who applauded him. Ioan Secasan was questioned at DNA headquarters on Friday on suspicion of complicity to offering and receiving a bribe, after he allegedly asked the head of the Medical Assessment Service of the Caras-Severin Pension House to classify a ranger under the invalidity category.
