Code-orange for floods in 8 counties

National Administration “Apele Romane” ANAR on Wednesday issued a code-orange for floods for the rivers from Mehedinti, Gorj, Dolj, Olt, Arges, Teleorman, Dambovita and Giurgiu counties. The National Weather Institute also issued a code-yellow warning for eleven counties in the southern half of the state, where rain with lightning and even hail will fall from Wednesday night to Thursday night, and the wind will blow with a speed exceeding 50 to 60 km/h.
The warning was issued for Vrancea, Buzau, Prahova, Dambovita, Arges, Valcea, Gorj, Dolj, Mehedinti, Hunedoara and Caras-Severin. The water amounts will exceed 25 to 30 liters per square meter in Oltenia, the eastern half of Banat, northern Muntenia and southern Moldavia, and in Mehedinti, Gorj, Dolj and Caras-Severin it will be more than 50 liters per square meter in isolated areas. The wind will blow stronger in the South, exceeding 50 to 60 km per hour and temporarily in the rest of the country, mainly during rain spells. In the counties located in the southern half of Muntenia and in Olt the weather will be unstable and the water amounts will reach 15 to 20 liters per meter.
