Canon celebrated an impressive lens-manufacturing milestone with the production of the Company’s 100-millionth EF-series interchangeable lens. Canon became the first-in-the-world producer having manufactured 100 million lenses, after its EF lens production surpassed the 90-million-unit mark in May 2013, a press release reveals.
Over the last 27 years, since the launch of the EF lenses and the EOS SLR cameras in March 1987, Canon has been the world leader in imaging solutions, building on the developments of a wide range of innovative technologies and world premieres, such as the Ultrasonic Motor (USM), Image Stabilizer (IS) technology, and a multi-layered diffractive optical (DO) element. In addition, the Company has recently introduced the EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x, the world’s first super-telephoto zoom lens with a built-in 1.4x extender.
