On Monday, Razvan Nicolescu, Minister Delegate for Energy, commissioned the Energy Department’s Control Body to conduct an analysis on the expenditures incurred so far for the hydroelectric power plant in Tarnita-Lapustesti, Cluj County. “The analysis will focus on Hidroelectrica’s activity. The head of the Control Body has until the end of the week to bring his conclusions forward to the minister,” a press release by the Energy Department notes. The hydroelectric power plant in Tarnita concept dates back to the Communist regime; the investment is estimated at EUR 1.1 bn. When contacted by Mediafax, Remus Borza, manager of Euro Insol, Hidroelectrica’s legal administrator, stated the reason for this operation is “a battle” for control over energy companies between Minister of Economy Constantin Nita and Nicolescu. He also mentioned that Control Body representatives need his authorization to perform inspections upon Hidroelectrica’s headquarters, which he would grant.
