One of Brancusi’s “The Kiss” auctioned in New York

A version of “The Kiss (Le Baiser)” by Constantin Brancusi is among the items put on sale at Christie’s auction house for a starting price of USD 5 million, during the impressionist and modernist art auction which took place in New York this week. According to Mediafax, the plaster masterpiece is one of the six versions of the sculpture created by the Romanian artist during his career, depicting two hugging lovers united in a kiss. The starting price is USD 5 million, as the organizers hope to get between USD 5 and 8 million. This is the second work of the Romanian artist put on auction by the auction house Christie’s in New York over the past couple of years. “The Muse,” another reference masterpiece of Brancusi’s creation, was sold for USD 12.4 million in 2012, being purchased by a private collector.
