Victor Ciorbea – sworn in as Ombudsman

Victor Ciorbea was sworn in as Ombudsman, in presence of the speakers of the Senate, Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, and Chamber of Deputies, Valeriu Zgonea, “This rebalances the fundamental institutions of the Romanian state. Nongovernmental organisations, the civil society, citizens have today, in Mr. Ciorbea as Ombudsman, a person to whom they should go when the legislation is not favourable for them or when, interpreting some fragments of legislation, they notice the existence of a blockage in certain economic sectors or social zones,” Zgonea said. Victor Ciorbea stated that he honestly wants to form a real team with his colleagues, a collective of competent and professional people that do their constitutional attributions of defending the rights and freedoms of citizens in relation to public authorities. The ceremony was held in the Official Hall of the Senate.
