Net nominal salary earnings up 4.9 pc in March

The net nominal average salary earnings were RON 1,706 in March, up RON 80 (4.9 percent) from the previous month; the highest figures were seen in the tobacco processing industry (RON 7,281) and the lowest in the accommodation and food services (RON 970), according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS). The gross nominal salary earnings over the same month were RON 2,356. In the budgetary sector, the average net salary earnings advanced by 2.6 percent from the previous months for education posts, by 1.7 percent for healthcare and social assistance employees, and by 0.8 percent in the public administration. In relation with the evolution of consumer prices, the real earnings index in March 2014 was 104.9 percent on February basis; the index is the ratio between the net nominal salary earnings index and the consumer price index.
