Gold medals for Romanian students at International Philosophy, Chemistry Olympiads

Romanian students got seven medals- five gold medals, a silver one and a bronze one- and the first place on the team event at the International Chemistry Olympiad that took place in Russia during May 11-17. According to the Education Ministry, it was Romania’s best result at this contest. Andreea Maria Filip from Bucharest International Informatics High school, Stefan Bogdan Ivan from the National Informatics College in Bucharest, Dumitru Calugaru from “Tudor Vladimirescu” Nationl College in Targu Jiu, Andrei Iliescu from the Bucharest International Informatics High school and Radu Costin Bizga-Nicolescu, from “I.C. Bratianu” College in Pitesti got the golden medals. Vlad-Mihai Mandric, “St. Sava’ College in Bucharest got the silver medal and Gabriel Dragos Negreanu from “Petru Rares” Collge in Piatra Neamt got the bronze one.
The Romanian students also won a gold medal and an honourable mention at the 22nd edition of the International Philosophy Olympiad held in Vilnius over May 15-18.
The gold medal went to Dan Cristian Vulpe, from the National Silvania College of Zalau (Salaj County), and the honourable mention was given to Petru Cosmin Vraciu, from the Deva-based National Decebal College.
When first taking part in Asia’s Physics Olympiad (May 11-18, Singapore), Romania’s Olympic team won three silver medals and two honourable mentions.
