Former presidential adviser Cristian Diaconescu joined the Popular Movement Party, announced yesterday deputy Elena Udrea during a press conference. Udrea said Cristian Diaconescu’s adherence represents a “gain” for the party, as he is “the type of western politician” the political stage needs at the moment. In a different token, Udrea said PSD and PM Ponta do not target to suspend President Basescu.
As for Cristian Diaconescu who was present at the press conference, he declared himself available for cooperation in the upcoming period for a political project he initiated at the creation of the Popular Movement Foundation. Inquired what will his position within PMP, Diaconescu said he will be member of this party. President Traian Basescu signed at the end of April the release of Cristian Diaconescu from the position of presidential adviser.
