The National Liberal Party Senior Vice President Klaus Johannis said during an electoral rally in Craiova, the southern Dolj County on Monday that if party president Crin Antonescu is elected President of Romania in this November’s polls, PNL has a good chance to governing in 2015 or in 2016 at the latest. ‘We are neither naïve nor anything else. We very well know that if Crin Antonescu is elected president, this does not mean we automatically are in government, but (…)we have a good chance to governing after the presidential polls – in 2015 or 2016 at the latest,’ Johannis stressed.
On the other hand, PNL President Crin Antonescu said during a visit to Slatina (southern Romania) on Monday that he had never said he would not run in this November’s presidential polls if his party failed to win 20 percent of the votes in this Sunday’s elections for the European Parliament. He underscored, however, that should the Liberals fail to garner 20 percent, he would resign as party head.
