The Popular Movement Party MP Elena Udrea said on Friday for B1 TV channel that PM Victor Ponta tries to attract the PSD nostalgic supporters to get votes for PSD at the MEP elections, reads jurnalul.ro. Udrea says that unless PSD gests 40 percent of the votes at Sunday’s elections, Ponta will not run for presidency in autumn. “There are voters who let themselves fooled by the slogan ‘USL is alive’ and trust what Ponta and PSD are saying. This is the explanation for the rising rating of PSD. They took over the voters who felt nostalgia after USL. For Ponta is important to pass 40 percent otherwise I do not think he will have the courage to risk in the autumn at presidential elections. A failure in the autumn would mean the end of his political career. That is why he resuscitates this right-wing voters who were supporters of USL,” said Udrea. The reaction of the former minister of Development and Tourism follows the statement made by PSD chairman at the end of last week during an election trip to Arad, according to whom most liberals want the restoration of USL, except for the leader of the party, Crin Antonescu, as the PM added that the process of the Union reestablishment can be resumed right after the elections for the European Parliament.
