Finance Ministry borrows RON 820 M

The Ministry of Public Finance (MFP) on Monday borrowed RON 820 million from nine banks, through one year discount treasury certificates, for an average yield of 2.49 percent per annum. The face value of the issue stood at RON 800 million, but the banks submitted bids worth RON 1.56 billion. MFP plans to borrow RON 3.445 billion from commercial banks in May, of which RON 3.1 billion in six treasury certificate and government bond tenders, and RON 345 million in additional non-competitive bidding sessions following these auctions. The amounts raised this way will refinance the public debt and finance the state budget deficit.
