Ponta teases PNL no-confidence motion: Campaign is over, let’s get back to work!

The Parliament yesterday debated the no-confidence motion “Stop the Ponta 3 government – The government of corruption, demagogy and lie”, in in presence of PM Ponta and of the cabinet ministers.  The joint session was attended by 301 deputies and senators, so the quorum was met. The premier answered the no-confidence motion in just 20 seconds, saying that it was initiated as an element of electoral campaign, but campaign is over, Romanians have cast their ballots and “we must get back to work, all of us.” “Initiating a no-confidence motion is constitutionally related to the activity of the government. The present motion was devised as an element of electoral campaign. Campaign is over, people have cast their ballots, so I believe we must all get back to work,” Ponta said in the plenum of the Parliament, without elaborating. When this newspaper issue was closed, the Parliament had not voted yet. PNL leader Crin Antonescu criticised Victor Ponta for not answering the no-confidence motion, telling him: “I am sorry, Mr. Prime Minister, because you faded away so young, from the democratic point of view.”
