The National Energy Globe Award for Romania goes to ViitorPlus for their project ecOprovocarea, an innovative competition on environmental protection for schools in Calarasi and Zalau, a press release informs. On May 28, Mrs Teia Gavrilescu received the award in a festive ceremony at the Austrian Embassy – Commercial Section in Bucharest. The objective of ecOprovocarea is to educate young people through practical involvement and active participation in a variety of environmental protection activities. In a total of 54.000 hours of volunteer works streets, parks and forests have been cleaned, 54.000 trees have been planted and the general public as well as local government institutions in the regions of the schools have been engaged in discussion and debate. Each school is represented by a team of ecOambassadors composed of 3 teachers and 10 students who create awareness for our responsibility towards the environment and therefore act as a role model for their fellow students. The program reached out to over 15.000 students and teachers, roughly 100.000 persons benefited from the activities of the project.

In the upcoming weeks many more national Energy Globe winners will be honoured in their countries in co-operation with the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.
