Buzau mayor Constantin Boscodeala indicted

The mayor of the Buzau Municipality Constantin Boscodeala was indicted by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) prosecutors for abuse in office with very grave consequences regarding the illegal transfer of a land from the state’s public property into the private one. In the same file, arraignment was also ordered for Viorica Stana, then-director of the Buzau Agency for Cadastre and Real Estate Publicity and Trandafir Nicolae, then-director of Buzau Unit of Research and Development for Vegetable Growing.
In the indictment the DNA prosecutors upheld that the defendants, by poorly fulfilling their job duties and violating the legal provisions on agricultural real estate, took action for transferring an area of 33 ha arable land from the state’s public property into the private property of Buzau Municipality. The land was managed by the Research Unit and exclusively devoted to research activity and production of seeds and planting material from superior biological categories and according to the law, such operation was forbidden. The land was used to produce seeds and planting material, from superior biological categories, with significant economic potential, due to its positioning. The Romanian state, through the Agency of State Domains Bucharest and the Buzau Research Unit are the civil parties in this case.
