Unemployment rate slightly down in April to 7.1 pc

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Romania was estimated at 7.1 percent or 702,000 people in April 2014, down 0.1 percent from March 2014, and 0.2 percent from April 2013, according to data released yesterday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS). The number of unemployed people between 15 and 74 years of age was 702,000, down from 724,000 in March, and from 734,000 one year ago.  The gender data show 1.4 percent higher unemployment amongst men, with a 7.7 percent rate for men and 6.3 percent for women. The unemployment rate of adults between 25 and 74 years of age was 5.6 percent in April, with 6.2 percent male and 4.8 percent female unemployment. The unemployed rate for persons between 25 and 74 years of age was 73.2 percent of the overall figure.
